Flarf Poetry Remix
Single Channel Video
March 2020
In a quirky karaoke-inspired remix, Jabba the Hutt's dance number is revitalized to Big Voodo Daddy's rendition of Minnie the Moocher, jazzing out to the political poetry of early 2020.
For this project, I utilized one of my favorite remix concepts, flarf poetry, which comes from sourcing text from pre-existing text, usually found online. In this case, I used found words and phrases from my Twitter timeline at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. I was inspired by digital creator, Damon Dominique, for the changing text at the bottom of the screen, prompting the viewer to sing the lyrics in time with the jazzy Minnie the Moocher background track. This project is a culmination of my love for video editing and remixing through recycling preexising creations.
